    Uber will invest $200M to expand its Advanced Technologies Group in Toronto and open a new engineering lab that will add approximately 300 jobs
    First Studio City will start construction on a new $100M film studio in Markham in spring 2019, with an expected completion by 2020
    WeedMD, a marijuana producer with operations in Aylmer and Strathroy, reached an agreement to supply the Ontario Cannabis Store. Employment is expected to double from 100 people over the next year.
    Teranorth Construction and Engineering Ltd. is scheduled to begin construction on the North Bay Bypass at Seymour St. in September. Construction on the $6.5M project is expected to be completed in 2020.
    Beleave Kannabis Inc., purchased a 250,000- sq.-ft. greenhouse space in London. The company has deals to supply recreational cannabis in Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
    Intel Corporation plans to open a new graphics chip engineering lab in North York
    Bonfire Interactive Ltd., a Waterloo software company, plans to expand and double its workforce following merger with five other companies
    Leclerc Group, a cookie, snack bar and cracker manufacturer, will open a production plant in Cornwall with operations set to begin in spring 2019
    Three new stores will open in the Perth Mews mall, including the relocation of an existing Subway store, a Starbucks and a St. Louis Bar and Grill. Completion is expected in February 2019.
    UNTUCKit, an American mens retailer, opened its first Canadian retail store in the CF Sherway Gardens mall in Toronto
    Construction is underway on an expanded location for Great Lakes Honda automotive dealership and Our Driving School in Sault Ste. Marie with completion expected in late 2018
    The Morton Community Healthcare Centre in Lakefield, Peterborough County opened a new medical clinic
    Lachance Construction secured a $3.2M contract to build a 14,000-sq.-ft. hanger at the Kapuskasing Airport to serve as an air transportation hub for First Nations communities on the James Bay Coast

    The City of Oakville will open the redeveloped Trafalgar Park Community Centre on September 22. The $41M+ project includes a new fire station.
    Construction on Municipal Road 35 in the Greater Sudbury Area, valued at $34M, is scheduled to begin in September and be completed by early 2020
    Northern Heat Treat Ltd., a business specializing in steel hardening, is hiring general labourers at its new location in the Greater Sudbury Area
    Construction begun on a new three-storey residence at Canterbury College in Windsor. It is expected to be completed by August 2019.
    The Youth Inclusion Program will receive $5.6M over five years from the Government of Canada to support Indigenous youth in Thunder Bay. Hiring of full- and part-time staff will take place over the next four to five months.
    Construction is underway in Newmarket on a 2,200-sq.-ft. medical centre by Mulock Canada Med Inc.

    DSW Inc. will close all 38 locations of its Canadian footwear chain, Town Shoes Ltd., by January. Approximately 400 workers will be affected.
    Cascades Inc., a recycled fibre manufacturer, is closing two of its corrugated packaging plants, affecting 65 employees in Barrie and Peterborough. Some employees may be able to relocate to other operations.
    Nordia Inc. will close its call centre in Lindsay on December 21, affecting 63 employees.
    The Nutty Chocolatier Co. Ltd., a chocolate shop in Peterborough, will close at the end of September, affecting nine employees
    A Beer Store location in downtown Ottawa will close on October 14

    Broccolini started construction on Amazon's 1.02M-sq.ft. facility in Ottawa. The distribution centre is scheduled to open in the summer of 2019, creating over 650 full-time jobs and up to 1,500 jobs over the course of its construction.
    Kiewit Corporation secured a contract with the City of Kingston to build the Third Crossing bridge project over the Cataraqui River, creating about 200 jobs. Construction is expected to start mid-2019 with a completion date of 2022.
    Whyte's Foods, a Quebec-based food manufacturer, is investing $16.5M in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Wallaceburg. The plant is expected to open in the fall of 2019, creating about 100 new jobs.
    The Nipissing Serenity Hospice will receive $1.5M from the Government of Ontario towards the construction of a ten-bed residential palliative care facility in North Bay. The hospice will create 21 jobs, 14 full-time and seven part-time. 
    Manitou Forest Products Ltd. and Henry's Trucking in Emo, Rainy River District, will jointly receive nearly $1.4M from the Government of Ontario to purchase new equipment, creating 10 jobs
    The Government of Ontario is investing more than $182M to modernize nine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) facilities across the province. Bird Construction Inc. is set to begin construction this fall with substantial completion expected by late 2020.
    Construction on Kenora's new $6.2M, 9,000-sq.-ft. airport terminal is almost complete and is scheduled to open this fall
    The City of Kingston awarded a $2.3M contract to Jacques Daoust Coatings Management Inc. to paint and restore the Tower Street water tower. Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed by early 2019.
    The Government of Canada is investing $1.1M to transform Terrace Bay's waterfront area, promoting tourism in the North Shore region of Lake Superior
    The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) selected B+H Architects as the architect for the new 22-storey Patient Support Centre which will replace the aging Elizabeth McMaster Building in downtown Toronto
    EllisDon Healthcare Infrastructure will start construction on Mississauga's West Park Healthcare Centre Redevelopment Project. The project will include a new 730K-sq.-ft. hospital building and is expected to be complete in early 2023.
    Projectcore Inc. will start renovations on the 4,423-sq.ft. historic Eclipse Whitewear building in Toronto to accommodate a new Mirvish art gallery. Construction is expected to start in October and be completed by August 2020.
    The Retail Council of Canada, in partnership with the City of Toronto, will host 2018 Fall Retail Job Fair on September 13 at the Toronto Reference Library to fill over 500 positions across more than 20 retail employers
    Amazon.com, Inc., will host a job fair on September 20 through PATH Employment Services, hiring fulfilment associates for its Milton warehouse. The company is offering ride-sharing opportunities for potential employees from the City of Hamilton.
    The Social Development Council will be hosting a job fair at the Cornwall Civic Complex on October 3
    The City of Kingston is looking to hire workers for the 2018 municipal election this October
    Cementation Canada Inc., a mine and facilities contracting and engineering company, opened a new office in Toronto. The company is also growing its capacity at its North Bay and Sudbury locations.
    Marshalls opened a new store at Cambridge Centre in the Region of Waterloo in August. Kingpin Bowlounge, Indigo and Sport Chek are also expected to open this fall.
    Irish-style pub chain Fionn MacCool's will open a new location in downtown Windsor in early October
    M&M Food Market, a retailer of specialty frozen foods, opened a new store in Scarborough in August
    DUCA Credit Union opened a new branch in Mount Albert, located within the Town of East Gwillimbury in August
    Oak and Linen Home, a home décor shop, has opened in Arva, Middlesex County in August
    Escapology, an escape room attraction, opened in London in August
    A Starbucks location is currently under construction in North Bay and scheduled to open in early 2019
    Three Windsor restaurants: Downtown Pizza Co., Snackbar-B-Q and Good Neighbour, have closed
    The Salvation Army will close its Thrift Store in Windsor effective September 1, affecting about 19 employees
    Amazon.com, Inc. is closing its software development office in Ottawa this fall, affecting about 30 workers. The company is working with the affected employees to provide relocation with their current role or assistance with pursuing other opportunities.

    PUC Services Inc., in partnership with Fluence Energy, LLC and Ontario Storage LLC, will construct an energy storage facility in Sault Ste. Marie which is expected to be the largest of its kind in Canada
    The University of Toronto announced plans for a new innovation centre in downtown Toronto. The first phase will include a 250,000-sq.-ft., 14-storey tower which is expected to be completed in 2021.
    TJX Companies, Inc. will open a HomeSense and a Winners in Pickering at the end of August
    Excavation at the site of the proposed Kingsway Entertainment District in Sudbury will go ahead with site preparation work valued at $8.5M
    The City of Toronto will invest approximately $25M towards improving the sewer system in the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area. Work will begin in 2019.
    The Government of Canada will provide $6.5M to Toronto's Evergreen Brick Works as part of the Investing in Canada Plan to revitalize a heritage building as a sustainable venue for cultural programming
    Nakina Lumber Inc. plans to add up to two additional shifts at its operation in the Town of Greenstone, creating job opportunities for members of the First Nation communities of Aroland, Eabametoong and Marten Falls
    Cy Rheault Construction Ltd. secured a $6.9M contract from the City of Sault Ste. Marie for exterior upgrades to the Civic Centre. Work is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2019
    Pajar Canada, a Montreal-based fashion brand, will open a 1,340-sq.-ft. store in Toronto's Yorkdale Shopping Centre this fall.
    Construction began on a $1.2M, 15,000-sq.-ft. accessible playground at Earl Bales Park in Toronto. The playground is expected to be completed this fall.

    Aleafia Health Inc., plans to open a medical marijuana greenhouse in Grimsby by the end of this year. When operational, the facility is expected to create approximately 60 to 80 full-time jobs.
    The Thunder Bay Police Service hired three officers
    Harte Gold Corp. is hiring mill personnel, technical and support staff for its Sugar Zone project north of White River. Production at the underground mine is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018.
    The Region of Peel has approved a $21.5M affordable housing project with Indwell Community Homes to build a four-storey, 66-unit mixed-use complex for persons with disabilities in Mississauga
    The Government of Canada announced a $5M loan and 750K grant for the Region of Waterloo to build cogeneration facilities at its three wastewater treatment plants in Galt, Kitchener and Waterloo. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020.
    Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities awarded a $1M grant to Grandview Children's Foundation to construct a multi-purpose gym, outdoor sensory trail and wheeling bridge in Ajax
    Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities awarded a $300K grant to Durham Challenger Baseball to install an accessible baseball diamond at Whitby's Willow Park
    The Government of Canada announced an investment of more than $117K to Greenbelt Microgreens in Lynden to hire students under the Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative

    A $3.3M Government of Canada investment was matched by the Greater London Airport Authority for infrastructure upgrades at the London International Airport. The project is expected to create about 65 jobs during construction.
    Miele opened a 2,200-sq.-ft. retail space in Toronto's Yorkdale Shopping Centre
    The Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute will hire four new staff members to administer an Anishinabek education support program launching this fall on Manitoulin Island
    The City of Petawawa is struggling with a doctor shortage. Currently there are seven doctors on staff at the Petawawa Centennial Family Health Clinic and there is funding for an additional doctor
    The City of Peterborough announced the sale of electricity distribution company, Peterborough Distribution Inc., to Hydro One Limited for $105M
    Canada Cobalt Works Inc. assembled a pilot plant at its Castle property northeast of Gowganda
    Orin Contractors Corporation started construction on a new bus transit terminal in the City of Markham
    The Mon Sheong Foundation plans to build a 320-unit long-term care facility in Stouffville by the end of 2022
    Kuhkenah Network (K-Net) and the Western James Bay Telecom Network will receive $6.6M and $441K, respectively, from the Government of Canada to provide new or improved high-speed Internet services to Northern Ontario
    The City of Stratford awarded a $4.5M contract to PM Contracting Ltd. for the construction of a 35-unit affordable housing project. Work will begin by October.

    Vale Canada Ltd. will invest $42M in exploration activities in the Sudbury Basin in 2018, nearly double its 2017 budget 
    The City of Windsor approved a $39M project to build 150 affordable housing units in the City's east end. Construction is expected to begin February 2019.
    Flanagan Foodservice, Inc. opened a new 180,000-sq.-ft. distribution centre in Whitby, creating 100 jobs and is hoping to create more jobs in the future
    Walmart Canada Corp. is looking to fill 100 positions for its Cornwall Distribution Hub
    Greenhouses Canada, a Lively-based designer and manufacturer of indoor cultivation systems located just outside of Sudbury, launched a cannabis division and expects to double its current staff of 20 employees within the year
    Elastic Path Software Inc. opened a new Canadian location in Markham and is currently hiring software engineers
    Revera Inc. announced the building of a new 96-bed long-term care facility in Hanover
    Chick-fil-A Inc. announced it will open a second Canadian location in Toronto next year, with plans to establish approximately 15 locations in GTA over the next five years and hiring 50 to 75 employees per location
    Jollibee, a Filipino fast-food chain, opened its second Toronto-area location in Mississauga
    The Northern Centre for Advanced Technology (NORCAT), a Sudbury-based provider of skilled labour training, opened a location in Thunder Bay
    SmartCentres REIT and SmartStop Asset Management, LLC will partner to build a 100,000-sq.-ft. self-storage facility in East York. Construction is expected to start this year and be completed in late 2019.
    CARSTAR Canada Partnership, LP opened an auto repair shop in Greater Sudbury
    The City of Windsor is investing $6M in a major overhaul of the Riverfront Festival Plaza. Construction will start later this year.
    Essex County approved the $4.5M construction of bike lanes in Leamington, Kingsville, and Essex
    Phase three of a multi-year upgrade of Highway 101 through Timmins is underway with $3M in funding from the provincial government
    The Town of Mattawa will invest $1.3M on a variety of capital projects
    The Ottawa transit company, OC Transpo, will lay off 345 employees by December as the service transitions to the City's light rail transit project

    Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill announced several new retail tenants will open throughout the summer and into the fall, including an Indigo, Old Navy, Marshalls, and HomeSense
    Geranium Corporation will begin construction of Vista Flats and Towns in Whitchurch-Stouffville, which will total 120 condominium one-level flats and two-storey townhomes
    The Government of Canada will invest $11.5M towards the $33M Thunder Bay Art Gallery Relocation Project. Construction on the new 38,000-sq.-ft. art gallery is expected to begin in spring 2019.
    Utilities Kingston will partner with Metro Optic, Inc. and Crosslake Fibre to build a fibre optic cable system from Montreal to Toronto, with estimated completion in the second half of 2019
    The Quinte West city council has approved TaskForce Engineering's bid to construct a new Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) headquarters. Construction will begin October 2018 and is expected to be completed by spring 2020.
    The Simcoe County District School Board will be moving ahead with the construction of a 135,700-sq.-ft. high school in southeast Barrie. It is expected to be completed by 2021.
    Construction is underway for a French-speaking public school in Welland. It is expected to be completed for the 2019-20 academic year.
    Work has started on a three-year, $17.6M project to add air-conditioning to a total of 29 Durham District School Board schools
    The City of Mississauga is hiring more than 2,500 workers for the 2018 municipal election in late October
    Toronto Community Housing will hire an additional 50 young people this summer in an effort by the City of Toronto to provide more social services and job opportunities to at-risk youth
    ABcann Medicinals Inc., a medical marijuana company, has begun a $30M expansion in Napanee to break into the recreational use market. The expansion will create 25 new positions and retain 45.
    JD Aero Technical Inc. plans to add a fourth line of aircraft maintenance work in January at its operations in Sault Ste. Marie, creating 20 jobs
    Peterborough-based start-up Zatiq, a mobile food discovery app, launched in Pakistan this summer and is planning to expand to Africa. This expansion will help create over 20 new jobs in Canada within the next six months.
    JR Certus Construction Co. Ltd. has been awarded an $8.4M contract for the King City Public Library and Seniors Centre expansion project by the King Township Council
    Burger King plans to open a restaurant location in Sault Ste. Marie
    Ruscio Masonry and Construction Ltd. will convert the former Alex Muir Public School in Sault Ste. Marie into a 16-unit residential building
    Co-opérative Régionale de Nipissing Sudbury Ltd. is hiring crop specialists and investing $1.7M to upgrade receiving and storage capacity at the Temiskaming Agriculture Centre in Thornloe
    The FedEx Ground facility in Belleville is undergoing a $1.37M expansion to improve service capabilities
