Job requirements




College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)

First Aid Certificate; Cultural Awareness Training; Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate; Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)


Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training; Completion of university


Experience an asset

Specific Skills

Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories; Implement life skills workshops; Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services; Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs; Conduct follow-up assessments; Resolve conflict situations; Conduct individual and group counselling sessions; Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research; Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs; Screen, recruit and train volunteers and support staff; Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community; Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
