Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate; Defensive Driving Course; Professional Driver Improvement Certificate; Driver's License (Class 1 or A); Air Brake (Z) Endorsement; Forklift Operator Certification

Documentation Knowledge

Accident or incident reports; Trip reports; Trans-border documentation; Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip); Driver logbook; Bill of lading


2 years to less than 3 years

Communication Systems Experience

Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment; Trip recorder (on-board computer)

Professionalism in customer service

Weight Handling

Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills

Perform brake adjustments; Load and unload goods; Receive and relay information to central dispatch; Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment; Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption; Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

Security and Safety

Driving record check (abstract); Drug test; Criminal record check; Basic security clearance; Valid passport
