Transport Canada Certificate of Competency; Nautical Institute Certificate; Marine Officer Certificate; Marine Advanced First Aid; Marine Emergency Duty (MED) Training Program; Transport Canada Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers


3 years to less than 5 years

Specific Skills
Record vessel's progress, weather and sea conditions in ship's log; Maintain vessel's navigational instruments and equipment; Enforce regulations in Canadian waters; Direct and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo; Determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps and charts
Additional Skills
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of deck crews
