Job requirements




Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)

Transport Canada Certificate of Competency; Nautical Institute Certificate; Marine Officer Certificate; Master Mariner Certificate; Marine Advanced First Aid; Marine Emergency Duty (MED) Training Program; Transport Canada Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers


5 years or more

Specific Skills
Enforce regulations in Canadian waters; Direct and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo; Control, steer and navigate a vessel in various waterways; Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo
Additional Skills
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of deck crews
