Our Team: Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you'll find Vale's Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale's competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology. The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Analytical Assistant (Co-op Student) to join our Analytical Services team in Mississauga. This is a 12-month fixed term position from January 2023-December 2023.The analytical laboratory is responsible for providing support to several projects gear towards improving operational excellence and sustainability within Vale Base Metals operations. Key Responsibilities Weighing and fusing solid samplesUse of acid dissolution techniquesDilution of aqueous samples prior to analysisPreparation of calibration standards and ongoing maintenance of ISO documentationOpportunity to gain hands-on experience operating sophisticated and complex plasma-based spectrometers depending on progress during the co-op term About You Enrolled in a co-op program for an undergraduate degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry or three-year technical diploma from a collegePrior work term experience is an asset but not requiredEffective written and verbal communicationsSelf-organization skills and a goal-oriented personalityA great colleague and teammate How can Vale grow your career?
