Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Supervise other workers. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety vest. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills.
