Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems. Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires. Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks. Write maintenance reports. Inspect and test overhead and underground power lines and cables and auxiliary equipment. Instruct apprentices. Install and maintain street lighting systems. Read and interpret blueprints. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets. Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Powerline Technician Trade Certification. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety harness. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?. Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years.
