SUMMER STUDENTS!District of SummerlandThe District of Summerland is hiring 6 parks students and 2 public works students for the period of May 1 to September 1, 40 hours per week, to assist in the maintenance of our parks, roads and beaches. To be eligible for this excellent opportunity, students must have attended secondary school, college or university during the last school term and be returning to their studies in the subsequent year or be completing their schooling in the same year. What?s in it for you?This is a union (CUPE) position with an hourly rate of $20.00 per hour plus an additional 14% in lieu ($22.80 per hour). A premium of $0.50 per hour will be paid to returning students. Students will be trained and supervised by District staff who have various areas of expertise and technical knowledge. Competition 23-02 - Parks - 6 StudentsParks operations include maintenance of green spaces, gardens, boulevards, playing fields, parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, washroom facilities, garbage collection and other duties as required.Competition 22-03 - Roads - 2 StudentsRoads operations include maintenance of municipal streets, lanes, boulevards and sidewalks and drainage systems, and other duties as required.
