Job details
Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Hospital (staff position). Urban area. Specialty hospital and acute care hospital. Tasks: Conduct medical research. Assess patients' diseases or disorders to determine appropriate surgical procedures. Perform and supervise surgical procedures to correct physical abnormalities and deficiencies and repair injuries. Prepare research papers for publication and presentation. Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases. Act as consultants to other physicians. Diagnose and treat diseases and physiological or psychiatric disorders. Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures. Prescribe medication and treatment and refer patients for surgery. Supervision: 11-15 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination. Area of work experience: Education or teaching. Specialization in clinical medicine: Pediatrics. Specialization in surgery: General surgery. Thoracic surgery. Security and safety: Bondable. Secret clearance. Criminal record check.
