Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Operate blade or wire saws to cut blocks of stone to specified dimensions. Check products for quality control. Operate machines to grind and polish surfaces of stone blocks, slabs or other stone products to specific shape or design and to produce a smooth finish. Operate sandblasting equipment to cut inscriptions or decorative designs in monumental stone. Perform ongoing machine adjustments. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Operate machines to drill holes in blocks or slabs of stone according to specifications. Repair cracks and holes. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Work with minimal supervision. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Overtime required. Personal suitability: Accurate. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
