Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Urban area. Health care institution, facility or clinic. Tasks: Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems. Supervise graduate students, research assistants, para-professional staff and other psychologists. Supervise other counsellors, social service staff and assistants. Prepare a treatment plan for each patient. Provide education to clients regarding health promotion and injury prevention, management and treatment. Provide therapy. Implement treatment plans. Analyze the patient during the treatments. Apply psychological theory and principles regarding behaviour and mental processes. Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them. Counsel clients, provide therapy and mediation services, and facilitate group sessions. Maintain accurate records. Initiate, design and implement specialized therapy programs.
