Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work setting: Health care institution, facility or clinic. Tasks: Interview client individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required . Perform administrative tasks. Plan programs of assistance for clients. Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group. Lobby for solutions to problems affecting client groups. Conduct social research. Apply for social program funding. Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia. Provide mediation services and psychosocial assessments.
