Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Odours. Dusty. Hot. Confined spaces. Work setting: Construction. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Instruct apprentices. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Install vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials. Supervise other workers. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Remove asbestos, ceramic fibres, lead and mould and urea-formaldehyde insulation materials from buildings. Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation. Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster. Leading/instructing individuals. Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools. Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Insulator Trade Certification. Insulator Red Seal Certificate. Driver's License. Insulator (heat and frost) Trade Certification. Surface preparation experience: Drywall taping/patching. Area of specialization: Spraying and blowing insulation. Fire stopping and fireproofing. Acoustical insulation. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Manual dexterity. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Mask. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
