Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Defensive Driving Course. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Forklift Operator Certification. Professional Driver Improvement Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trans-border documentation. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Trip recorder (on-board computer). Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Security and safety: Valid passport. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel for extended periods.
