Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Mountain driving expertise. Professionalism in customer service. Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brakes Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Dry bulk. Dump truck. Logging, highway. Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer B train. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. National. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Medical exam. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle. Travel expenses paid by employer. Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border.
