Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Odours. Dusty. Work setting: On-site customer service. Commercial. Institutional. Residential. Urban area. Various locations. Work in employer's/client's home. Relocation costs covered by employer. Willing to relocate. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired). Make custom designs for clients. Instrument experience: Precision measuring instrument. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Hardwood strip flooring. Borders or feature strips. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Parquet flooring. Rubber sheet goods. Cork flooring. Conductive flooring. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement.
