Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to focus on the installation of commercial HVAC systems, including Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, boilers, and Make-Up Air (MUA) units. The ideal candidate will have expertise in commercial projects, a strong commitment to precision and safety, and the ability to collaborate with clients and trades. A Gas Technician license (G2 or G1) is preferred, but we welcome candidates willing to pursue certification with our support.
Key Responsibilities
* Install commercial HVAC systems, including VRF systems, high-efficiency boilers, MUA units, and associated ductwork, piping, and controls.
* Assemble and configure system components, ensuring proper alignment, refrigerant flow, and airflow per design specifications.
* Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to execute precise installations.
* Connect gas lines, electrical wiring, and control systems for boilers and MUA units, adhering to TSSA and ESA standards.
* Perform system start-up, commissioning, and testing (e.g., pressure tests, refrigerant charging, airflow balancing) to verify performance.
* If licensed as a Gas Technician (G2/G1), install and service gas-fired equipment; if not, commit to pursuing G2 certification with company sponsorship.
* Collaborate with project managers, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems.
* Interact with commercial clients to confirm project requirements, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction during installation.
* Troubleshoot installation issues on-site, resolving challenges related to VRF, boilers, or MUA systems efficiently.
* Maintain accurate documentation, including installation reports, material lists, and compliance records.
* Adhere to Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE standards, TSSA regulations, and safety protocols on all projects.
Qualifications
* Education: Diploma or certificate in HVAC/Refrigeration Technology or equivalent training from an accredited institution.
* Experience:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician, with at least 2 years focused on commercial HVAC installations.
* Proven expertise installing VRF systems, commercial boilers, and/or MUA units.
* Certification/Licensure:
* Valid Gas Technician license G2
* G1with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is highly desirable.
* If not G2/G1 certified, willingness to enroll in a Gas Technician training program (company will cover training costs).
* Valid 313A (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic) Certificate of Qualification with the Ontario College of Trades is a strong asset.
* Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) card or Refrigeration Operator certification is a plus.
* Skills:
* Proficiency in installing and commissioning VRF systems, boilers, and MUA units.
* Ability to interpret detailed blueprints, P&ID diagrams, and manufacturer specs for commercial projects.
* Strong troubleshooting skills for complex HVAC systems, including refrigerant and gas components.
* Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients and trades on commercial job sites.
* Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, TSSA standards, and commercial HVAC regulations.
* Other Requirements:
* Valid driver?s license and clean driving record for travel to commercial job sites in Ottawa.
* Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (e.g., boilers, VRF units), work at heights, and navigate large job sites.
* Availability for occasional overtime or weekend work to meet project deadlines.
What We Offer
* Competitive Salary: $70,000?$120,000 annuall
