Our goal is to make it easy to access great healthcare, know our patients, provide great care and improve the health of Thunder Bay and the community overall! *About the job* Oak Medical Arts seeks an energetic and passionate *Nurse Practitioner* to work in our Academy Pharmacy + Clinic location. *Why you should work for Oak Medical Arts* * HOOPP employer * A rewarding job in primary care * Work-life balance (hours of this position are weekdays 9:00am-5:00pm) * An employer that is flexible and accommodating * Join a compassionate team that values your expertise and contribution * Take pride in working for a locally-owned business * Opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare team * Experience a great team, positive environment and culture that make you enjoy your work * Competitive wages, benefits and pension *Roles of the Nurse Practitioner* * Standard primary care appointments - driver?s medicals, prescription renewals, acute conditions, minor ailments, etc. * Prescribe medications and treatments * Assess patient health through interviews and physical examinations * Communicate information to patients regarding diagnosis and treatment goals * Maintain patient medical records (using EMR) * Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities * Maintain confidentiality of patient and corporate information * Develop professional rapport and working relationships with patients * Perform physical examinations and take patient histories, order/interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures * Prescribe and administer medications and treatments * Create treatment plans in collaboration with other providers and follow up to assess care outcomes * Vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases * Perform well-baby assessments, diabetes care, Pap smears, and other routine screening * Advise patients and families on healthcare including health promotion, disease, illness, and accident prevention * Provide counselling and support to patients and families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues *Qualifications* * Valid Nurse Practitioner license * Strong patient care and nursing skills * Proficient in medical terminology and medication administration * Experience in acute care, pediatrics, and senior care Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent Pay: $75.00 per hour Benefits: * Casual dress * Company pension * Dental care * Disability insurance * Employee assistance program * Extended health care * Life insurance * On-site parking * Vision care Schedule: * 8 hour shift * Day shift * Monday to Friday Experience: * Nurse Practitioner: 1 year (preferred) Work Location: In person
