We are on the cutting-edge of concussion research by leading the TRANSCENDENT study. This study is establishing one of the largest concussion datasets in the world and is incorporating cutting-edge assessments including physiological evaluations, fluid biomarkers and advanced neuroimaging to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of concussion from all causes, across the entire patient spectrum.
We established the first 360 Concussion Care clinic in September 2020 in Ottawa, and we expanded to clinic sites in Toronto in spring 2021 and Mississauga in October 2022.
*Role Description*
*360 Concussion Care is seeking an enthusiastic Nurse Practitioner to join the team.* You will collaborate with patients, families, and other health care providers to provide high-quality patient-centered care. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong clinical background and will practice to full scope of practice as outlined in the Standards of Practice by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
*Job Responsibilities:*
· Provide complete health assessment including health history, collaborating with physicians when required.
· Diagnose and provide detailed information to patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
· Determine the need for health and prevention strategies for patients.
· Ensure patient information is documented accurately within the EMR.
· Collaborate with members of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and evaluate patient care.
· Order and coordinate ordering of diagnostic tests and imaging (as indicated).
· Utilize nursing strategies with a foundation of evidence-based practice.
· Consultation with physician in accordance with the standards for physician consultation
· Oversee all triaging of incoming referrals.
· Collaborate with a team of physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and mental health counselors.
· Participate in clinical research initiatives aimed at improving concussion care, including patient recruitment, data collection, and collaboration with academic partners.
· *Job Qualifications:*
· Qualified to work in Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class - RN(EC)
· Successful completion of an approved NP education program.
· 3+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, ideally in a clinical setting working with patients of all ages.
· Provide leadership in the application of nursing knowledge within the team.
· Professional liability insurance required.
· Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Ability to collaborate with physicians and work together as a team.
· Experience or interest in clinical research, data analysis, or quality improvement is an asset.
