Install electromechanical, analog and digital trunking systems, circuits and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centres. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Computer and technology knowledge: Telecommunication system. Technical experience: Fibre optics. Equipment and machinery experience: Aerial and underground cable lines. Splitters. Coaxial line. Area of specialization: Telecommunication service testing. Telecommunications equipment. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Drug test. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines.
