Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Sewers and water mains. Tasks: Load, unload and transport construction materials. Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Instruct apprentices. Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt. Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction. Clean and pile salvaged materials. Perform routine maintenance work. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites. Direct traffic at or near construction sites. Construction specialization: Pipelines. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Manual dexterity. Handling heavy loads. Hand-eye co-ordination. Sound discrimination. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year.
