Education: College/CEGEP. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Urban area. Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Tasks: Advise clients on beauty care treatments. Analyze hair and scalp condition. Book appointments. Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Provide custom hair and scalp treatment. Shampoo customers' hair. Shave and trim beards and mustaches. Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair. Perform receptionist duties. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Hairstylist Trade Certification. Hairstyling Red Seal Certificate. Hairstylist Licence. Hair styling techniques: Blow drying. Iron waving/curling. Hair colouring techniques: Bleach. Dyes/tints. Streaking/highlights. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
