Reunion Coffee is currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and safety-driven Coffee Roaster to perform in our Coffee Roasting Division as part of our hourly Operations team. As our new Coffee Roaster, you will be responsible for the roasting of high-quality coffees from a green state to specification in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. In this key position, you must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, safety focused work environment. On a practical level, you will:
* Observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions
* Prepare green coffee beans for roasting
* Batch roast coffee beans and inspect regularly according to specifications
* Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unload product into bins
* Work with QA to adjust roast specifications
* Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of roasting equipment
* Inspect for quality and accurate quantity at all times
* Monitor roasting process to identify needed adjustments or repairs, such as opening valves, changing forming and cutting blades, setting guides, and cleaning away damaged product
* Receive information from production schedules and batch tickets
* Prepare inventory transfer documentation
* Perform quality control checks at specified intervals and provide samples to Quality Assurance
* Report food safety problems and or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate actions
* Responsible for GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety and quality, and being aware of SQF (Safe Quality Food) System Program.
