Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Noisy. Confined spaces. Work setting: Machinery installation. Maintenance. Service. Repair. Overhaul. New construction. Machine set-up. Tasks: Coach and instruct apprentices. Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions. Construct foundations for machinery. Repair or replace defective machinery parts. Fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up. Perform routine maintenance work on machinery. Operate machining tools to fabricate parts. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Installing machinery and equipment. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certification. Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal Endorsement. Surface preparation methods: Abrasive head blasting. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Automated and robotic system. Conveyor. Fans and blowers. Heat exchangers. Hydraulic system. Lathes and other machining tools. Pneumatic system. Power tools. Pumps and compressors. Tool grinders. Welding equipment. Hand tools. Area of specialization: Start-up and testing. Renovating and restoring. Troubleshooting. Specialty welding. Stainless steel welding. Painting.
