*Position Overview: *The Phoenix House Manager will oversee Phoenix House (PH), a ten-bed, gender inclusive residence program. Through 24/7 support, it offers safe, supportive housing for youth (16-24 years of age) learning skills for independent living. The Manager will provide supervision and support to a team of seven core staff as well as a roster of casual Relief Workers. This position is a member of the Phoenix Senior Management Team, who work closely to ensure all Phoenix programming is consistent and supports cross-agency connectivity. With support from the Senior Director of Residential Programs, the Manager is accountable for the oversight, implementation and critical review of the Phoenix House program policy, procedures, and related budget.
*Program Overview: *Phoenix House is a ten-bed long-term residential facility for youth aged 16-24. It offers safe, supportive housing for youth while learning skills for independent living. Youth participate in programming such as education, employment, or volunteer work, while preparing to transition to their next housing goal.
The Phoenix House Manager will work in a shared office space located in a three-storey residential House in downtown Halifax. Access to the House and its interior is via stairs at street level. The facility features gender-neutral washrooms and a shared kitchen area. There are multiple common areas that can be accessed by both youth and staff. There is also access to an outdoor space at the back of the house that can be used outdoor activities. There is also a staff fridge at this location as well that is accessible by all agency staff.
*Reports to*: Senior Director of Residential Programs.
*Compensation: *$63,000 base annual salary, comprehensive group medical insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, 3% employer paid RRSP contribution, three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks of vacation in the second year, generous sick leave, a generous paid holiday schedule, in-house training, and professional development opportunities.
*Hours of Work: *40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some flexibility and occasional evening and weekend work and on-call rotation.
*Location: *Phoenix House,2385 Hunter Street, Halifax.
*Screening Requirements: *Due to the sensitive nature of our work with youth, this position is subject to a satisfactory criminal records check including vulnerable sector search and child abuse register check.
