Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Operate machines to join sections of garments or other articles into finished products on a piece-work or production basis. Operate sewing machines or sew by hand. Set in sleeves, pockets, collars and other garment pieces. Use sewing guides and tension devices. Type of materials: Cotton or synthetic. Knits. Equipment and machinery experience: Hemmer or blindstitcher. Industrial sewing machine. Multi-needle machine. Serger or overlock. Single needle machine. Sewing experience: Commercial. Garment section work. Piecework. Whole garment. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to distinguish between colours. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Manual dexterity. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Personal suitability: Accurate. Judgement. Organized.
