The Public Prosecutions Service of the Department of Justice and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General, is seeking individuals to join various Bathurst Crown Prosecutor Office as a Legal Assistant.The mandate of the Office of the Attorney General is to promote the impartial administration of justice and ensure the protection of the public interest in New Brunswick on behalf of the Crown. The Office includes the Public Prosecution Services Branch.What you will do As a member of the Public Prosecutions Service team, the Legal Assistant is responsible for the management of investigative files within the regional office. This includes preparing and reviewing correspondence, court briefs, reports, court orders, preparing the affidavits of service and coordinating the service of court documents in accordance with the Rules of court. The successful candidates will also be responsible for reception; responding to inquiries; managing all aspects of the office and in-house file management system; managing all aspects of disclosure requests and tracking of same, maintaining office equipment; as well as other related duties as may be assigned. Work will involve face to face and telephone communication with lawyers, police, witnesses, victims, accused persons and government agencies.
