Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Estimating. Budgetary responsibility: $100,001 - $500,000. 0 - $100,000. Tasks: Oversee production . Set machine or equipment controls. Develop computer applications for machines and processes. Develop manufacturing and processing procedures. Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and reports. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems. Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads. Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D). Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Monitor and adjust contract expenditures. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Computer and technology knowledge: File management software. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Computer-aided design (CAD). AutoCAD. MS Outlook. MS Word. MS Windows. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Take-off packages. Scheduling packages. Estimating packages.
