Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). First Aid Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Dangerous goods occurrence reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tractor-trailer. Tractor-trailer A train. Tractor-trailer B train. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Long-haul. Short-haul. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
