Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Noisy. Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel. Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. Install roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings. Repair or replace single-ply roofing systems. Repair roofing systems. Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level. Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools. Install sheet metal flashings. Estimate costs and materials. Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : First Aid Certificate. Scaffolding Certification. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Specialization or experience: Copper or metal roofs. Area of specialization: Shingled roofs. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Repetitive tasks.
