*Room Attendant*
Reports to: Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeepers
*Position Purpose:*
Live the Sheraton Brand ? our room attendants are the associates who most strongly believe in, communicate and exemplify the goals, strategies and values that enliven the hotel in each and every aspect of the hotels? operations and administration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, efficient cleaning and presentation of guest rooms as laid down in the standard operating procedures manual. This position is for someone that is creative and innovative and has a proven track record that relates strategic thinking with the willingness to drive the business forward while exceeding the expectations of our Guests and Associates in a ?Life is better when shared? way while embracing the Sheraton spirit of our core values of a ?Welcoming, Assured, Community?.
*Day to Day Operations:*
To clean guest rooms as allocated, achieving standards of cleanliness and maintenance while meeting and exceeding the expectations of our guests
* Responsible for replenishment of guest supplies and advertising material in guest rooms to achieve the correct standard.
* Responsible for security of keys and guest rooms at all times by adherence to procedures and reporting any suspicious persons or items to the management as required by company policy
* Responsible for reporting and bringing down all lost articles
* Complete WHMIS training and understand correct usage and storage of cleaning agents in line with health and safety regulations and manufacturer?s instructions.
* Responsible for the use and care of equipment and report any defective equipment
* Responsible for reporting all maintenance defects as per the operating procedure
* Perform any other tasks as assigned by Management.
Actively participate in hotel recycling program to eliminate unnecessary waste, reduce expenditures and contribute to Marriott?s policies towards environmental protection.
*Our People:*
Under the OHSA, Room Attendants are required to ensure that:
§ Employees work in the manner and with the protective devices, measure and procedures required.
§ Employees use or wear the equipment, PPE or clothing required by the Sheraton Ottawa Hotel.
§ Employees are advised of the existence of any potential or actual danger to their well being of which the supervisor is aware.
§ Where prescribed, employees are provided with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for their protection.
§ Every reasonable precaution is taken for the protection of the employee and guest.
On a daily basis, Room Attendants are to reinforce and demonstrate a positive ?Health & Safety? attitude and working climate. Room Attendants are expected to report, investigate and properly document all incidents and injuries to employees and guests, as well as any property damage or loss of process as a result of the incident.
*Physical Demands for this position**:*
· Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
· Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
All lifting will be within reason. The employer will make every effort to ensure that the associate is protected from injury (ex. PPE).
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
· Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different floors of the hotel on a timely basis.
· Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
· Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
