Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: General manufacturing. Tasks: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Gauges. Verniers. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Engine lathes. Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Basic security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Attention to detail. Overtime required. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Dependability.
