Education: Bachelor's degree. Chemical engineering. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Conduct quality control on programs, procedures and control strategies . Establish new quality control programs and strategies . Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment . Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies. Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials. Design and test chemical processing and associated plants and equipment. Develop guidelines and specifications for the handling of dangerous chemicals, environmental protection, or standards for foods, materials and consumer goods. Oversee the construction, modification, operation and maintenance of pilot plants, processing units or processing plants. Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers. Commission systems and components. Create three-dimensional (3-D) models with computer-aided design (CAD). Supervision: 5-10 people. Computer and technology knowledge: Microsoft Visio. MS Excel. MS Office. MS Outlook. MS PowerPoint. MS Word. Additional sector experience: Water treatment. Area of work experience: Design. Installation, maintenance and inspection of equipment or facilities. Project management. Purchasing, procurement and contracts. Quality assurance or control. Research and development.
