Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Working at heights training. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel regularly. Travel expenses paid by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling.
