Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Attend to gas escape calls. Install gas heating units and their components. Service gas heating units and their components. Install and maintain meters and regulators and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter. Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems. Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required. Estimate costs and materials. Install and service propane and natural gas filling stations. Test and replace defective equipment or components. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B. Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 3 or C. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
