Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Custom cabinet shop. Millwork shop. Residential. Commercial. Tasks: Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components. Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints. Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Area of specialization: Cabinets. Built-in units. Furniture. Millwork. Furniture and cabinet remodeling. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail.
