<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p> </p><p><strong><strong>Job Title: Welder / Fitter (Structural & Pipe)</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>Job Type:</strong></strong> Full-Time / Contract</p><p><strong><strong>Job Summary</strong></strong></p><p>We are seeking a detail-oriented <strong><strong>Fitter</strong></strong> and a high-precision <strong><strong>Welder</strong></strong> (or a dual-role <strong><strong>Fabricator</strong></strong>) to join our production team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end assembly of metal structures, from reading complex blueprints to performing code-compliant welds. Whether you are fitting 36" pipe or welding structural I-beams, we value safety, accuracy, and a "first-time right" mentality.</p><p><strong><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>For Fitters:</strong></strong></p><ul><li><strong><strong>Blueprint Reading:</strong></strong> Interpret 2D/3D schematics and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).</li><li><strong><strong>Layout & Assembly:</strong></strong> Measure, cut, and align metal components using squares, levels, and lasers.</li><li><strong><strong>Tack Welding:</strong></strong> Use MIG or Stick to "tack" components in place for final welding.</li><li><strong><strong>Rigging:</strong></strong> Safely move large materials using overhead cranes and forklifts.</li></ul><p><strong><strong>For Welders:</strong></strong></p><ul><li><strong><strong>Fusion Excellence:</strong></strong> Perform high-quality welds using <strong><strong>MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), or Stick (SMAW)</strong></strong> processes.</li><li><strong><strong>Out-of-Position Work:</strong></strong> Execute vertical, horizontal, and overhead welds with consistent penetration.</li><li><strong><strong>Self-Inspection:</strong></strong> Use gauges and mirrors to check for undercut, porosity, or slag before the QC inspector arrives.</li><li><strong><strong>Material Prep:</strong></strong> Clean, grind, and bevel joints to ensure maximum weld integrity.</li></ul><p><strong><strong>Requirements & Qualifications</strong></strong></p><ul><li><strong><strong>Experience:</strong></strong> 2+ years in a fabrication shop or industrial construction environment.</li><li><strong><strong>Certifications:</strong></strong> AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred (e.g., D1.1 or B2.1).</li><li><strong><strong>Technical Skills:</strong></strong> Proficient in using torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.</li><li><strong><strong>Physical Stamina:</strong></strong> Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in awkward positions for extended periods.</li><li><strong><strong>Safety First:</strong></strong> Mastery of PPE requirements and fire safety protocols.</li></ul></div></div>- Location Waterloo, ON
