Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Outdoors. Tasks: Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements. Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations. Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates. Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations and testing of construction materials. Participate in field checks and verification. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Establish and monitor construction work schedules. Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Computer and technology knowledge: CAE - computer-aided engineering. AutoCAD. Area of work experience: Project coordination. Laboratory testing and analysis. Civil engineering experience: Buildings and structures. Waste handling sites. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Area of specialization: Structural engineering. Construction design and supervision. Geotechnical. Environmental protection. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
