IV) For more information on bursaries/incentives please visit www.workinhealthnl.ca/incentives or email employment@nlhealthservices.ca Competition Number: VAC0023693Posted Date: 2026-04-14Closing Date: Open until filled.Job SummaryThe Nuclear and Molecular Medicine Technologist III is responsible for the day-to-day operations and implementation of the only Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) program in Newfoundland & Labrador. This position performs specialized and advanced diagnostic imaging procedures using a PET/CT camera and involves administering radioactive materials and contrast with very specific timing/and flow rates to visualize the anatomical regions that are required. The result is a very detailed image that the Nuclear Medicine Physicians review to determine whether surgical interventions, oncology treatments, or palliative treatments are required. The results of the scans help the Oncologists to treat cancer patients, Cardiologists to treat cardiac patients, Neurologists to diagnose varying neurological conditions, and Internists to treat patients with infections in varying parts of their body. The Nuclear and Molecular Medicine Technologist IIIs are classified as Nuclear Energy Workers (NEW).Job DemandsBy applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Regularly moves or lifts objects between 10-50+ lbs. such as shielded radioactive sources and lead bricks.Occasionally pushes and pulls objects or transports patients over 50 lbs. in wheelchairs or stretchers.Regularly stands, walks, or sits for extended periods to perform activities.A very high level of alertness and attentiveness is required when performing scans/procedures due to patients' condition, safety and because some scans/procedures are captured in real time.Regularly performs fine finger/precision computer work; handling of open-source radioactivity and radioactive equipment/components requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are a regular requirement, including gloves and gowns.Job QualificationsGraduation from a recognized (accredited) program in Nuclear Medicine Technology is required.Successful completion of the CAMRT Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging or PET/CT Certificate Program is required.Current registration and member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).Current BLS Certification is required.Strong understanding of radiation safety procedures and CNSC regulations.Proven analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.* Due to safety requirements this position will rotate through the PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine sections of the Nuclear and Molecular Medicine Division.
