Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Outdoors. All weather conditions. Work setting: Golf course. Golf. Tasks: Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning. Manage landscaping projects. Prepare proposals. Estimate costs. Survey and assess designated sites. Prepare contracts and tenders. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products. Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions. Assess the health of lawns. Direct crews who maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes. Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease. Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes. Plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens. Plant and move trees. Tree removal. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Outlook. Landscaping experience: Commercial and/or industrial construction. Park and recreation sites.
