Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. General manufacturing. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Equipment and machinery experience: Engine lathes. Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Computer-aided design (CAD). Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Criminal record check. Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is available.
