Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) to join our specialty pain clinic team. The MDRT is responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and instruments used in patient care and interventional pain procedures. The successful candidate will play a critical role in infection prevention and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Medical Device Reprocessing * Clean, disinfect, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize reusable medical devices and instruments according to manufacturer instructions for use (MIFU), clinic policies, and industry standards. * Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including steam sterilizers (autoclaves) and other approved reprocessing equipment. * Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, damage, and completeness before sterilization and use. * Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological monitoring, chemical indicators, and quality assurance activities. * Label, store, and distribute sterile supplies and instruments appropriately. Quality Assurance and Infection Prevention * Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols and best practices. * Conduct routine testing and monitoring of sterilization equipment. * Maintain documentation required for quality assurance, audits, and accreditation purposes. * Report equipment malfunctions, sterilization failures, or potential safety concerns promptly. * Participate in quality improvement initiatives and corrective action processes. Inventory and Supply Management * Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies, instruments, and reprocessing materials. * Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies. * Ensure appropriate storage conditions for sterile instruments and supplies. * Track instrument maintenance and replacement requirements. Clinic Support * Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure instruments and supplies are available for scheduled procedures. * Support compliance with occupational health and safety standards. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe reprocessing environment. Qualifications Required * Completion of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) program. * Current certification as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (e.g., CSA certification or equivalent recognized credential). * Knowledge of infection prevention and control principles. * Understanding of sterilization processes, biological monitoring, and quality assurance practices. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records. Preferred * Previous experience in a medical device reprocessing department, ambulatory care clinic, surgical center, hospital, or specialty procedure clinic. * Familiarity with interventional pain management, surgical, or procedural instruments. * Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements related to medical device reprocessing. Working Conditions * Outpatient specialty pain clinic environment. * Frequent standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks. * Exposure to cleaning agents, disinfectants, and sterilization equipment. * Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
