The Mactaquac Generating Station began generating electricity in 1968. Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime.Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, the Construction Manager (Civil) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all civil construction activities for the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project (MLAP). This role is accountable for ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The Construction Manager (Civil) works closely with contractors, the Engineer of Record, and internal stakeholders to support design, manage construction execution, and resolve on-site issues in a complex operating hydro facility.Key functions include:Lead and coordinate civil construction activities to ensure alignment with contract requirements, safety standards, quality expectations, and project schedule.Manage and collaborate with contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective execution and integration of work across the site.Monitor daily construction progress, troubleshoot field issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and cost targets.Participate in constructability reviews, change management processes, and review of issued-for-construction drawings.Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and WorkSafe NB safety requirements.Our ideal teammate will have:Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related disciplineSeven years of construction management experience in hydro generation, industrial, or large infrastructure projectsThree years of experience in a supervisory role managing multi-functional teamsStrong knowledge of construction methods, contract management, and project delivery in brownfield and/or greenfield environmentsDemonstrated ability to manage contractors, resolve complex site issues, and work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary teamStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsRegistered Professional Engineer licensed in New Brunswick or eligible for immediate transfer considered as an assetAn equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
