Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks. Measure distance, volume, length and weight. Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Secure special attachments to equipment. Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment. Operate hydraulic pumping systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification. First Aid Certificate. Type of heavy equipment operated: Backhoe excavator, loader. Caterpillar (CAT) controls. John Deere controls. Bulldozer, large or small. Side-boom. Trencher, large or small. Loader. Compactor.
