We are looking for an associate lawyer to join our team at our beautiful office space in Uptown New Westminster. Associate lawyers will represent family law clients in matters such as child custody, divorce, support, property division, family violence, and others. Our firm promotes a good work-life balance, teamwork and camaraderie among associates and staff. Junior associate applicants are both welcome and encouraged to apply. Junior associates will primarily work on Legal Aid files provided by the firm until the lawyer establishes a level of experience in family practice or develops their own private referrals. Senior counsel is available at any time to answer questions and provide mentorship, helping you to gain the wisdom of experienced trial lawyers early in your career. Associates are compensated on a generous fee-split basis that will be discussed at the interview. Candidates must be motivated and capable of self-direction. Atticus Legal is results-based: lawyers are expected to meet a minimum billing target per month, but the lawyer will be entirely free to set their own schedule and manage their workflow to meet this goal. The firm will provide new lawyers with enough work to meet the minimum billing target for an initial period. The firm will support lawyers to develop their own client generation over time. Responsibilities include legal research, drafting pleadings, advising clients, and representing their interests, whether in negotiation, mediation or at a hearing. Our office culture is relaxed with respect to in-office attire and schedule as long as the lawyer maintains professionalism in the discharge of their duty to the client.
