The Bertossi Restaurant Group is seeking an Experienced Accountant to help us carry on our tradition of creating award-winning hospitality! If you enjoy analyzing the details and ensuring the financial operations run efficiently, then you'll be the perfect fit.Reporting to the Owner & the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for assisting with the full financial accounting cycle. We are looking for someone who can add value to an organization with their exceptional excel skills, accounting capabilities and attention to detail.The Bertossi Group has set the standard for fine dining in Halifax for over 30 years, with six current destination restaurants: Water Polo, Matadora, Via Condotti, Ristorante a Mano, The Bicycle Thief & il Mercato Trattoria, as well as two luxury Cafes: Pane e Circo.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule including month-end closing processes, accruals, and adjusting journal entries.Assist in Year-end preparation of Financial Statements for external auditors.Assist in the preparation of daily labour reports including follow-up of time clock discrepancies.Act as a back up and/or assist the Payroll Coordinator with the preparation of weekly payroll when requiredSupport staff accountants in organizing daily work flow and assist in server cash balancingMonthly Intercompany, Gift Card and General ledger reconciliationsAssist in cash flow reportingResponsible for Inventory review and investigating variances arising from counts.Build relationships with restaurant managers to promote professional communicationsQualificationsThe successful candidate in this role will have:Post Secondary Degree in Accounting is requiredExperience in Hospitality considered an assetStrong systems skills, specifically MS Excel for accountingExcellent communication skills with the ability to work with a small busy teamExperience with Sage would be an assetWhat is in it for you?Competitive compensationExtended Health & Dental BenefitsMonthly Dining Allowance to be used in any of our RestaurantsFree ParkingPaid VacationThis position is full-time in-person at our Head Office located on North Street in Halifax, and free parking is available.At The Bertossi Restaurant Group, we pride ourselves on our unwavering dedication to inclusiveness through hospitality, by creating a welcoming environment for employees & guests alike.Only local candidates who are legally entitled to work in Canada will be considered.
