Build a Future at the City of SurreyEMPLOYMENT STATUSUnion - CUPE Local 402 - Regular Full-time SCOPEThe City of Surrey has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tradesperson 2, Refrigeration Technician to perform skilled HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning) trades tasks involving considerable physical effort and active performance of a variety of maintenance and minor construction of Municipal facilities and buildings.RESPONSIBILITIES Performs skilled HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) trades work in construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of City facilities and buildings. Monitors the operation of HVAC systems including taking readings of various gauges, boilers, refrigeration, electrical and alarm systems and auxiliary equipment and controls. Maintains the operation of HVAC systems such as maintaining proper pressures of various gauges, operation of cooling tower and heat pump systems, bleeding the air compressor, chillers and refrigeration units, changing filters of fan units and electrical switches. Lubricates motors, bearings, pumps and fans. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and plans. Assists in preparing estimates of costs, time, materials and equipment needed for HVAC projects. Orders materials and supplies. Keeps accurate records, including daily log of activities, etc. Works with other trades including working with electrical and plumbing systems. Assists other crew members in performing their duties. Responds to routine inquiries from the public and others. Performs PM and DM on city owned HVAC equipment. Performs other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS Successfully completed Grade 12 or GED. Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trades Qualification. B.C. Provincial Environmental Ticket. Previous experience and training as a qualified trades in HVAC systems. Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, principles, methods, codes, materials, and equipment used in the HVAC trade A valid B.C. Driver?s license with safe driving history. The successful candidate must obtain and maintain a valid RCMP Security Clearance.
