Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities<a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a><a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>The funded position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program offers the opportunity to gain meaningful experience and learn practical skills associated with working in an organization that provides professional vision rehabilitation therapy. VLRC is seeking an energetic, dynamic Office Assistant who will support the local team and contribute to the delivery of inclusive, accessible services, helping ensure individuals who are blind or partially sighted can access the services, tools, and resources they need to thrive. <a rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external"></a>Individuals in this role will develop skills in assistive and accessible technologies, digital communication and document accessibility, research, data organization and quality assurance, workflow automation, and other entry-level tasks that contribute to initiatives across VLRC. This placement provides exposure to healthcare technology and accessibility, including opportunities to understand how AI-enabled tools support individuals with vision loss.To be eligible for the funding associated with this position, you must be: <ul><li>Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment </li><li>A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Protection Act </li><li>Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
