JOB DESCRIPTIONIrving Shipbuilding is recruiting for Pipefitter, Red Seal - HSL, Local 1 in Halifax, NS.RESPONSIBILITIESRead and interpret marine or industrial blueprints, pipe detail arrangement drawings and work from standard and metric specificationsLayout, fabricate, fit up a pipe assembly including fittings, flanges, and valves utilizing various tools and equipmentWork with various pipe materials such as carbon steel, copper-nickel, and stainless steel along with the appropriate valves and fittingInstruct and mentor apprenticesYou must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this jobA pre-employment physical is requiredA background check will be completed by the EmployerPhysical effort and work conditions:Candidates will be required to work at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms; stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces, inclement weather and support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors. You will frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds. Occasionally, you may be required to lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds.QUALIFICATIONSEducation Required:Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical trainingPipefitter trade certificationYears of Experience Required:5-8+ years of verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experienceExperience working in marine/industrial industry is considered an assetWHMIS certificateAll successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).vABOUT USFounded in 1882, J.D.
